Amazon Prime Day Let Down

• Some good deals on video games, but nothing to write home about.
• Most items that were featured were already on sale, and only got an additional 10% off.
• Poor Marketing led to high expectations of an event bigger and better than Black Friday, however due to limited quantities of highly anticipated items, and “lightning deals” no one cared about, it just seemed like a marketing stunt instead.
• One Prime example was a PS2 Memory Card –

• Rather than being a celebration of Amazon’s most loyal and passionate customers/fans it was received as a promotion to get more people sign up for prime.

 

Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection Demo Coming Soon

• Interesting that a demo of an HD remaster is being promoted as something to get excited about.
• Demo should be coming later this summer, with the full release scheduled for October 9.

 

Kojima name officially removed from Cover of MGS 5

• Hideo Kojima’s name has officially been removed from the “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” Box Art
• This is contrary to the statement from Kojima that he is still involved with the production of MGS, however after all of the headlines these past few months from his public opposition over David Hayter’s ousting as the voice of Snake (replaced by Keifer Sutherland), and the cancellation of Silent Hills, it seems very unlikely that there is much of a relationship between Kojima and Konami any longer.

 

Destiny 2.0 being released with “The Taken King” DLC

• Heralded as the “Largest Update to player experience to date”
• Overhaul of quest system to become more like “Epic” Quests, and feel more like classic MMO quests. You will no longer have to go back to “town” to get new quests or exchange items.
• If the release of Taken King is successful, it could push the entire market towards a more “macro-transaction” based model focused on larger updates and releases with higher buy in for new content.
• Coming in September.

New Horizons Spaceship got to Pluto on an Original Playstation CPU

Batman Arkham Knight PC fixes delayed until October

• Game Breaking Bugs caused game to be pulled from Stores
• Fix not coming until October, with an interim patch coming in August hopefully solving some issues.

• Epic Card Battle in controversy over rewarding players for Steam Reviews
• Firefly Online Teaser Released (Mobile Based MMO)
